River took a few deep breaths and then lifted her staff again. She twirled it expertly in her hands, moving forward in a standard fright-tactic move. River had sparred many times with Shadow, and her sister had always been particularly good at those sorts of maneuvers.

Shade watched as he skillfully twirled the staff. He wished that he had spent more time on weapons training and less time thinking it was useless for him. He noticed River coming towards him and stood his ground, holding his staff out in front of him like a shield.

River saw a small chink in his defense. He tended to distribute his weight a little too much on one foot; if River could catch the foot that wasn't carrying as much weight, she would have a hope of knocking him over. So River feigned a blow to his shoulder and then spun around and swept the staff towards his foot.

Shade studied her movements carefully, hoping to deflect her attack. He went to dodge the shoulder blow but ended up being knocked off his feet. He landed hard on his ass and cursed as his injured wing connected with the hard ground as well. He inwardly cursed his stupidity, he forgot to hide them before the fight. He closed his eyes for a moment and slowly drew his wings back in, hissing in discomfort as his injured wing contorted.

River stepped back, noticing Shade's discomfort.
"You okay?" She asked, her eyebrows rising. If he was injured, then fighting probably wasn't the best idea at the moment. River figured that even if it wasn't quite her fault, Shadow wouldn't like it too much if she'd found out that River had sparred with her sister's boyfriend while his wing was hurt.

Shade's eyes opened at River's question. "I'll be fine" he said. "My wings are just sensitive" he explained "so if I injure them, and they jostle too much it hurts."

River nodded slightly.
"Then maybe that's enough for today." She said, lowering her staff to her side. If his wings were bothering him, then sparring probably wouldn't help.

Shade sighed and nodded. "Yeah, probably" he said in agreement. He knew if he kept fighting while he was hurt and got hurt worse then Shadow would probably call him an idiot. "What did you wanna do now?" he asked.

River grabbed Shade's pole and walked over to the storage room. Shoving them back into their designated barrel, she thought about Shade's question. Then River turned and made her way back towards him.
"I'm personally hankering for a movie." River said with a smirk. It had been a while since she'd visited the built in theater that was connected to the game room. The TV was supposed to run off of some sort of eco-friendly, non-electric fuel, but River had never been interested enough to find out what that was.

Shade watched as she went to return the staffs. He wasn't sure how they went from a hostile conversation to a friendly spar, but he was glad. "A movie sounds good" he replied. "What movie were you thinking?" he asked.

River shrugged.
"Something with action, adventure, and dragons," she said with a wide smile on her face. Shadow had often thought River's obsession with dragons was weird, but River hardly thought so. She figured it was just a draw to power and majesty or something. Either way, she liked what she liked.

Shade liked the sound of that, he liked action and fantasy movies. "That sounds like an awesome idea" he said. He was looking forward to watching a movie, it had been a while.

River smiled.
"Shall we, then?" She gestured towards the door. Shadow secretly liked romance movies, so she and River rarely watched any together due to lack of common interests. It would be nice to hang out with someone and watch one of her favorites.
