The streets of New Jersey were relatively crowded, at least for the hour that Shatter arrived outside the Holiday Inn hotel. Checking his watch, he figured that it was near one o'clock in the morning. But even if he hadn't caught much sleep on the plane, Shatter wasn't very tired. His body was used to getting little to no sleep.
Making his way into the hotel would be tricky. His boss had organized his arrival, so he knew he could get in at the front desk. But at this hour of the morning? Not likely. Glancing up at the windows of the hotel, Shatter decided on something a little more time conscious. Walking into the nearby alley, he made sure the coast was clear and then removed his black gloves, stuffing them into his satchel. Reaching up for the hotel wall, he drove his fingers into the brick, feeling it crumble away like sawdust. Shatter slowly made his way up the side of the building, pausing whenever he heard voices nearby. Finally he reached the third floor. The hallway window was locked, of course, but that didn't phase him. Shatter watched as the lock broke into a thousand pieces and his usually impassive face broke into a little smirk as he pushed the window open and leaped into the building.
His landing was similar to that of a cat's. As soon as his feet hit the floor, he buckled his knees and used his hands to make the impact as noiseless as possible. Reaching into his pocket, Shatter checked the room number again. Making his way down the hall, he stopped at the indicated place. Touching the door handle, he closed his eyes and concentrated on the lock. There was a satisfying click as it snapped into little pieces. Shatter opened the door quietly, closing it behind him. He glanced around the white-walled room, taking in the plain furnishings and the few paintings on the walls. Then he walked farther into the room, glancing at the bed. He had never seen Celeste in person before, but he had to admit she was beautiful. She lay on her bed with the comforts drawn up to her waist. Her silver hair lay around her pillows, looking soft and almost ethereal in the dim light of the room. Her face looked almost pained, not bearing the calm expression that should have graced the face of a sleeping person. Shatter's brow furrowed slightly. He knew what it was like to have disturbed dreams. Moving forward, he knew he would have to play it safe if he were to wake her without alarming her. Like that will happen. He thought sarcastically. He reached over her, grabbing her shoulder and placing his hand over her mouth at the same time, giving her a little shake to wake her.

Around was nothing but a large blur. Everything was white and black. A girl ran from something.. She couldn't remember what.. It was just completely black behind her, her mind shacked with fear as she ran further and further, she knew deep down that it was hopeless to run. The thing chasing her was gaining on her and soon swallowed her.
Her eyes burst open to have somebody covering her mouth, and have a hand on her shoulder. She immediately moved her right hand to the blade beneath the pillow. Pulling it out, she attempted to hit the guy with it, however found the weight on her shoulder to heavy.
Realizing second hand combat wasn't going to work, she froze the water particles in the air, and then sent them all toward the guy's face.

Shatter couldn't say that he was surprised that the girl resisted. Her blade was useless with her arm pinned down, but it seemed that she had other defenses. Shatter looked sharply at the shards of ice and they seemed to burst into powder, falling on to the bed sheets.
"Do not struggle," Shatter said in a quiet, smooth voice, "I have come here by order of the person we both work for." He knew that there was a chance she wouldn't believe him, so Shatter made sure to keep his mind open for any more signs of struggle. If she tried to throw something at him, he'd destroy it within seconds and then use the tranquilizer if he had to.

The girl struggled to get lose of the hold, while the shards flew to her attacker. When they suddenly shattered, turning into a fine powder that drifted back down onto her bed. Shocked by what had happened, she obeyed the command the stranger gave; by stopping her struggle. When the stranger spoke again it made her heart beat go faster. She pushed for him to get off of her.

As realization dawned on the girl's face, Shatter knew that she'd be sane for the moment, at least. She seemed determined for him to let her go, and now that she seemed calmer, he saw no reason to remain in that position. Releasing her, he took a few steps back, his hands falling to his sides.
"Excuse my method of waking you," he said calmly, "I did not wish to startle you, but it was necessary." His expression bordered on uninterested, as did his voice. But that was the way it was with Shatter. He felt no reason to express anything anymore. Without his parents, without Rosie, he had nothing in the world. No purpose. No hope. So why bother? He just went through the motions... Mostly because he was too much of a coward to die.

As soon as the guy got off, Celeste got up to face him ready. When he apologized she soften a tad, though still noticeable compared to before. "Well, what's the necessity?" she asked mentally taking in the guy's possible weak points. If the guy was to kill her... He may have done it already, but she had to admit there was some out there. She pictured in her head twenty different escape and fighting designs she could do to escape.

Shatter straightened. He pulled the sleeve of his trench coat back, revealing his lightly-tanned wrist. Starting at his palm and going about four inches up his arm was a symbol made up of what looked like shards of black glass. They were shaped somewhat like a question mark, and had a unique quality about them that made them shimmer in the dim light.
"Our master sent me here. We are to hunt the mutant down together." He said matter-of-factly. Looking at this girl, Shatter was beginning to wonder whether he really wanted to be partners with her. She seemed the rigid and skittish type. But in the end, what did he care? Orders were orders.

Celeste waited calmly for the guy replied, as if a reply he pulled up to reveal a tattoo. At first she questioned his logic.. Then he spoke in this matter-fact tone about the reason he was here. All she could think about was, how boring the guy was. Man, couldn't he at least be more energized about it? Am I that boring?
"Together you say?"
she paused as if to have him answer only to continue before he could speak another word. "Well, last I saw. He was talking to this other chick. What do you know. They know each other. I would have killed him right then." Seeing that this guy meant no harm and was a zombie. She bent down pulled out her travel bag and sorted through it. She would have to change something more appropriate then pajamas. She pulled out a lick white suite with a slick white easily zipped up leather top. Before the guy could say another word or do something. She headed straight for the hotel bathroom. She opened the door and went through locking it behind her. She quickly slipped out of her pajama pants, picked up the white soft leather pants, she pulled them up and button them. She then slipped off her pajama shirt, thankful she wore a bra with it, and picked up her white leather shirt. She zipped it up thinking how cool it looked that the leather white shirt could show her stomach. She also noticed how messy her hair looked, with a few fingers through the strands she was ready. She picked up the pajamas off the bathroom floor. Opened the door headed back to the bag, still not acknowledging the new useless partner. She went threw the blades. She picked four of them out; two knives and two small daggers. She placed all four on the bed. Pulled out her white boots, which matched perfectly with the outfit. She slipped both on her feet. When finished, she picked up the two small daggers and placed each in each boot, then took the knives and slipped them through her long sleeved shirt. She went around the bed to find her keycard on the side. She picked it up and slipped it into her boots. Even though there was absolutely no point; she has yet to learn this fact. She turned to the guy. "Did "our boss" give you any tracking devices of any sort?" She asked him daring him to challenge her full out question.[/blockquote]

Shatter waited patiently as Celeste spoke. He didn't really care what she had failed at or almost done. All that mattered was the mission at this point. Her attitude towards him was less than complimentary, but he hadn't expected much else, and almost didn't want her to be cordial. After all, he deserved every bit of venom. And it would make him feel more alive that way. She brushed past him and went to change clothes. Shatter glanced out the window, his thoughts wandering. He hadn't been outside in so long. The world was beautiful.
"I wish you could see this with me, Rosie. You would have loved it." He murmured quietly. A frown flitted across his brow as horrible images began filtering through his mind - his sister's mangled corpse stretched out on a test table, her eyes staring blankly up into nowhere, her mouth open slack. He turned away from the window in time to see Celeste emerge from the bathroom. She was apparently still ignoring him. Not that he cared. He waited for her to address him.
"A tracking device," he said in response to her question. He didn't figure the other tools were any of her business. They were mostly to be used against her in a bad situation anyways. Not that I'd need them. Shatter thought.

The guy just stood there blank; he just repeated what she said. Making an annoyed noise, Celeste reached across the bed to her travel bag. She dug deep into it making a smile when she found a small tracking device out. She kept it in her hand and pulled out the annoying phone that had came with it. She then walked around the bed once more, she still ignoring the newcomer, opened the door that led to the hallway and stepped out. She walked all the way to the elevators, still not daring to check if the guy was behind her, she planned to prove that she could do this. She clicked for the elevator to go down and waited calmly thinking of possible killing techniques of the new partner.

Shatter felt the urge to sigh, but he held it in. Instead of responding to her obvious snobbishness, he straightened himself and walked after her. Getting into the elevator, he wondered if she'd noticed that he'd broken the door handle. She probably won't notice until we come back. He thought, deciding that he didn't really care what she thought. She could yell at him all she wanted. He'd had worse.
Much worse.

The elevator binged and Celeste stepped out, still ignoring her new partner. She walked right through the doors; not even bothered to notice that the lady behind the desk was mysteriously missing. The doors opened up and she looked around for a cab, to find there was none close by."You have got to be kidding! Ugh!"
frustrated and wanting to prove herself, she continued to walk further from the hotel looking for a cab. After a few moments she looked back at her partner smiled to herself and started turning into a white raven to fly off. "Guess you'll have to find your own ride" she said in a smartypants way, and about 1 seconds later was mostly a bird.[/blockquote]

Shatter watched as his partner looked for a cab. He wasn't at all surprised when she turned into a raven. It was almost expected, really. Her smug voice didn't phase him in the least. Turning, he walked over to his rental car and turned it on. Lucky for him, Celeste glowed like a lamppost in the night. It was easy to follow her. Especially since he was a very slick driver.

OOC: I don't think the timing would work out that well but whatever *shrugs*. I just feel sorry for whichever one of them would have to deal with Falling Star -,-
