Tails thought about the stories he had heard about Crucible, how Crucible caused people horrible pain. He could relate with suffering from extreme pain, I wonder if giving it to someone else takes the pain away for a little while he thought to himself. "So when you were trying to make me feel happy, you were channeling your own happiness?" he asked, just to clarify.

Crucible turned to look at Tails.
"Happiness I have felt before, yes." He answered calmly, with the slightest of nods. Daman considered this new piece of information. He was especially surprised to find out that Crucible could make people feel happy, too. He'd never heard of the mutant doing stuff like that before. I guess you can't judge people before you know them. He thought, glad Tails had given him the chance to learn something about the younger boy.

Tails was very intrigued by Crucible's powers. They were so different from any other mutant he knew about, and they seemed useful. "That's cool" he said. "Everyone's powers are always so much more useful than mine" he muttered.

"Useful?" Crucible mused, looking away. "I suppose you could call them that. But you are fortunate not to have the struggle of controlling a power like mine." He said gravely.
"No great power comes easily," Daman agreed, shuddering as he remembered the time he had burnt someone alive. That had been the last time he'd allowed his powers to go out of control - and the first. But the memory still haunted him.

Tails looked between his brother and his new friend, noticing Daman's shudder. He knew that Daman's powers were impossible for him to control completely, and he guessed that Crucible's were very difficult to control. His on the other hand was very easy but very painful.

Crucible felt a little shock of emotion from the boy beside him. He glanced at Tails and tipped his head to the side slightly.
"If you don't mind me asking..." He murmured, earning an alarmed look from Daman, "Is that mutation... natural?" He gestured to the ears and the tail, his expression as deadpan as ever. But Crucible sensed there was something behind this mutant. He'd known his fair share of mutant experiments - mostly failures, if he was honest with himself. He had never needed a reason to use his powers on them - any amount of pain or joy he could give them was nothing to the agony they felt. Tails wasn't as terrible as that, he sensed, but it was a similar feeling he got from the boy.

Tails looked at Crucible, his blue eyes reflecting the pain that came from those memories. He shook his head in reply. The flashbacks were starting and he clamped his eyes shut, drawing in deep breaths. He was trying to banish those memories, not wanting to have another breakdown, they always worried Daman.

Crucible was sorry he asked. He tried to recall a moment of peace and calm and chose a movie night when he was younger. He remembered his father tucking his arm around Crucible's head, causing the young boy to feel so comfortable. Crucible sent those emotions towards Tails, hoping that he would find some comfort in them.
Daman glanced at Crucible, seeing a spark in his eyes that worried him. He wasn't sure what was transpiring between him and Tails, but he could almost sense the difference in the atmosphere. Is Crucible using his powers? Daman wondered nervously.

Tails felt a feeling of comfort wash over him. He knew in an instant that it was Crucible trying to help him, so he let the emotions flow through him. He could feel himself relaxing, and the images were disappearing. He took a deep breath before opening his blue eyes, now only with a small trace of pain in them, but that was almost always there. "Thank you" he said, glad that the memories were gone, at least for now.

Crucible nodded. He had done similar things many times - mostly without anyone being aware of his part in the change of their emotions. When he had been found by the Order, Crucible had even been trying to help a cat that was dying after being hit by a car. He had wanted to take away its pain. Perhaps it was because he understood pain so well. Crucible hated for other people to feel it.
"I used to do the same for my sister," Crucible said suddenly, surprising himself. "When she had bad dreams."

Tails smiled at Crucible's comment. Sometimes he wished he had grown up with someone to take care off, had a different life, but most of the time he was content with his life. He had lived through hell but he had wound up with Daman, his older brother, real family. He couldn;t imagine looking after someone now, he was far too messed up himself to take care of someone younger.
I wish my memories came back only in dreams, not as an almost constant stream in the back of his mind he thought to himself.

Daman watched Crucible face and was surprised at what he found there. Usually the boy looked calm and composed, with a monotonous voice and empty eyes. Now, there was an expression of deep sadness on the mutant's face.
"So Tails," Daman said quickly, wanting to distract the other boy from whatever was troubling him, "What was it we were planning to do today?" He asked as cheerfully as he could.

Tails was snapped from his thoughts by Daman's question. He shrugged, they didn't really plan things before they met up, it was always just what they felt like doing at the time. "I don't know, we didn't really plan anything" he replied.

Daman thought for a moment.
"We could go to the game room again... or go swimming. What do you feel like?" He asked. Crucible wondered what swimming was like. He'd always been afraid of water as a kid, and had avoided it even after his fear had lessened. His sister had always loved swimming... A pang of sadness seemed to wrench Crucible's stomach, making him feel sick. He wished he could forget, but the memories were as close as his heart, never leaving, never fading. Becoming only stronger and sadder as the years passed.

Tails thought over the possibilites. He wasn't really sure what he wanted to do, all he knew is he wanted it to involve the least amount of people as possilbe. He really wasn't in a good state of mind to be dealing with too many other mutants. The memories were hanging a lot closer to the front of his mind than usual and it worried him.
"I'm not really sure" he replied honestly. He looked at Crucible, "Any ideas?" he asked.
