Name: Lawrence Isaac Cain
Mutant Name: N/A
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Species: Mutant
Ranking/Position: Loner
Loyalties: Neutral
Description:
Lawrence is very handsome, with smooth skin and a sloping jaw that gives him a bit of a baby face. His hair is thick and blonde, and it always seems to be falling into his face. Lawrence has sad-looking blue eyes that accent his child-like features. He is 6’2” and has a lean, almost lanky build. Lawrence always seems to have a smile on his face, but somehow it looks as fake as it is. His nose is of average size, and tips upwards only slightly at the end. He has a small mouth, but it’s made more substantial by his very white teeth. Lawrence usually wears a black long-sleeved T-shirt, no matter the weather, although his pants vary from jeans to cargo pants. He always wears the same black Nike shoes and has a small stud earring on his right ear.
Abilities:
Lawrence is somewhat like a telepath. He can read thoughts, as long as he is touching the person, and if he is used to contact with them he is able to read his/her or insert his own thoughts at a distance. He also has the ability to see glimpses of past and future, although this is usually also on contact. He rarely sees any specific event; it’s normally something connected to a person that he touches. However, he does sometimes have dreams that show him his own future or the future of those he remembers.
Personality:
Lawrence seems cheerful and friendly upon first meeting. He’s very at ease and gentlemanly, and he demonstrates a high level of intelligence and charisma. However, upon further acquaintance, one may find him to be very strange. Lawrence never touches those around him if he can help it, and if he does, he sometimes has odd reactions that make him visibly different from a normal person. He may be friendly but he has few friends, since he prefers being alone and not getting close to anyone. He’s a secretive sort, rarely giving any information away when it comes to his own past. While he may understand people very well, Lawrence tries generally to remove himself from their midst, since his powers react when he is around a lot of people.
History:
Lawrence Isaac Cain was born to Theresa Anne Riley and Mark Cain. His mother was young when she gave birth to him, and complications after the birth caused her to die prematurely. Lawrence’s father, Mark, did his best to raise his son. The two had a very close bond, and did practically everything together. Ren, as his father called him, was a very cheerful boy back then. He got along well with everyone, and always seemed to possess an understanding far beyond his years. When Lawrence was fifteen, though, he began having the dreams. They were dreams of his mother, mostly, and how she suffered at his expense. Ren became nervous from lack of sleep, and his condition only worsened when he found that he could hear voices whenever he bumped into schoolmates or passerby on the street. He would hear his father’s voice in his head sometimes when they were in the same room, even though he was sure his father wasn’t speaking. He told Mark about his problems, and his father took him to see a therapist. No one could explain the strange events that were surrounding the young boy, and the therapists all suggested he have “professional” help. Ren decided it would be best to pretend he was getting better, and he did his best. But one day, Ren accidently bumped into his father, and saw a terrible scene unfolding as if it were reality. He saw his father leaping in front of him, followed by a burst of light, a huge roar of sound, and then silence. Ren became even more distressed than he had been, and his father tried to comfort him, and tell him that he was just imaging things. But this was not the case, sadly. Ren tried to find out the meaning behind his visions, and in so doing let slip his strange abilities. Hunters came to catch him, but his father stood in their way. Ren was forced to watch, helpless, as the Hunters shot his father down. Ren used his powers to confuse the Hunters, and then slipped away into the night. This was all when he was only sixteen years old. The years after were hard. He worked to control his power, while only being able to scrounge up the most pitiful of livings. But he fought through, and now lives relatively comfortably, hidden in whatever city he decides to reside in for the moment.
