Ash was shaking, the horrible memories flashing through her mind. She wanted to scream, but couldn't get the words out, there was a pressure on her throat along with the gun to her head. She heard a voice calling her name through the fog of the memory.
Ash blinked open her amber eyes and looked up, noticing how close she was to the boy. She felt her cheeks heat up, and she backed up a couple steps. "Sorry" she said "someone grabbed me and it brought back memories."

Garfield glanced at the other mutant. Their eyes met, and then the dark-haired girl bowed her head slightly. Without a word, she vanished in a puff of black billowing smoke. Garfield watched a dark streak flitting across the earth as it faded away. Then he turned back to Ash and tried to smile encouragingly.
"Well you're safe. There's nothing here that can hurt you." He said awkwardly.

Ash smiled at Garfield. "Thank you for coming back acnd saving me" she said, her bright smile once again returning. "And I know I'm safe with you here" she added.
"So any idea how to fix my arm?" she asked, it was becoming increasingly painful. She then gestured to the arm being held against her torso, motionless.

Garfield glanced at it worriedly. He wasn't a healer, and he had received only a very few injuries in his lifetime, so his experience was not very good.
"I'm afraid I don't know much about medical procedures..." He murmured. After a moment of hesitance, he suggested, "Maybe someone in your hideout could help you?"

Ash thought about his suggestion, and decided it was the best idea. She also realized she couldn't make the journey alone, a wounded mutant made a prime target for a hunter, and her powers were pretty much useless with her injured arm. "They could, but I couldn't risk going back alone" she said. "Then I'd be an easy kill for any hunter around" she added "my powers aren't very useful without both my hands."

Garfield frowned slightly. He looked down at his feet, and one hand strayed to his scar, which was throbbing as it always seemed to do when he had a hard choice to make. Finally he looked up at Ash and let out a little sigh before speaking;
"I can take you there. I'll protect you." He said solemnly.

Ash watched as he debated going with her. She watched as his hand touched the scar on his forehead, It must be a thinking thing she thought to herself. Ash smiled brightly when he agreed to go with her to the Order. She hugged him once again with her good arm. "Thank you" she said, leaning up to place a quick kiss on his cheek.

Garfield blushed when Ash thanked him. He nearly turned beat red when she kissed his cheek, and he fumbled with words for a minute before shrugging his shoulders and smiling tentatively at her. He looked at her arm for a second and then an idea struck him. He slung his backpack off his shoulder and began digging through the bottom of it. His sand shifted aside as he sought an extra white T-shirt he kept in his bag. Shaking the sand out of it, Garfield tore off a part of it and then turned to Ash.
"We can use this to keep your arm still." He said eagerly, hoping that she would think it a good idea. He wasn't sure why, but he really wanted Ash to like him. Perhaps it was just his inner longing for love. Or maybe he honestly just liked her, for some reason that he couldn't quite understand yet.

Ash smiled sweetly at Garfield. She noticed the blush on his cheeks and found it utterly adorable. She stepped back and watched as he dug through his sand filled backpack. She noticed the white t-shirt in his hand, and tilted her head in confusion. The use clicked when he ripped a strip from the shirt.
"That will be perfect" she said, impressed by the idea. She was falling for Garfield and hard, she wanted to just hug him and never let go.

Garfield smiled a slight shy smile and then walked closer to Ash. Every footstep nearer to her caused his heartbeat to stutter nervously. He had never felt this way before about anyone, and he was entirely confused about the feelings that he was experiencing. He met Ash's gaze and a slight blush stole over his cheeks again.
"May I?" He asked, holding up the torn pieces of the shirt and indicating her arm with a dip of his head.

Ash noticed the blush painting Garfield's cheeks once again. Maybe he likes me too she thought to herself. She felt the heat rise to her cheeks again, in response to her thoughts. She snapped out of her thoughts just in time to hear his question. "Of course" she said, readjusting the position of her arm.

Garfield noticed Ash's expression and couldn't help a hopeful, shy little smile from creeping across his face. He closed the distance between them, and now he was so close he could smell a faint trace of cinders and wilderness coming from her. He wrapped the white cloth around her shoulder, making sure the folds were not creased too much. Then he tied it securely so that it would hold her arm in an acceptable position.
"There," he said, satisfied with his work, "How is that?"

Ash waited as he came closer to put the makeshift sling on. When he approached she could smell sand, and it reminded her of the beach when she used to go as a child. She had always loved the beach, this comparison caused her smile to brighten even more.
She stayed still as Garfield carefully and gently bandaged her arm. "It feels great" she replied, already noticing a decrease in the pain level.

Garfield smiled, glad that his plan had worked. He looked out at the horizon and wondered just how far they would have to travel to get to this place. The Grand Canyons were in Arizona, which wasn't just a hop-skip-and-a-boat-ride away. With a sigh, he figured they'd need some supplies.
"Let's head for the closest town. I know one that won't think twice of..." He frowned slightly, rubbing his scar self-consciously as he did sometimes when he was nervous.

Ash watched as Garfield scanned the horizon. She sighed, she realized it wasn't going to be an easy journey, especially with her injured arm. "Thats sounds like a good plan" she said, smiling. "Lead the way" she added, gesturing with her good arm.
