Garfield nodded slowly. He made his way as slowly as he could, wanting to make sure not to put any strain on Ash's injury. As they neared the town he'd been talking about, he reached back to zip his bag shut. Then he slipped his hand into an outer pocket, pulling some money out and stuffing it into his shorts pocket. He turned to Ash and nodded gravely.
"We're good to go as long as we don't do anything suspicious. Got it?" He checked, feeling a bit anxious. He'd never gone on an errand with someone before - let alone another mutant. He was worried that something would go wrong, but he couldn't ask Ash to just wait. Or should she wait...? Her arm might draw attention... He didn't want that. Garfield was suddenly very confused.

Ash followed closly by Garfield's side, her senses on high alert. She wanted to make sure nothing was following them, the last thing she wanted was for Garfield to get hurt.
She noticed the town and paused when Garfield readjusted his bag. "Got it" Ash replied confidently. It had been years since she had been in a city, but she still knew how to behave. Come to think of it, the town seemed very familar. It can't be she thought to herself.

Garfield glanced at the streets, glad that the town was as quiet as ever. He turned to make his way to the local grocery store, his hands thrust into his pockets and his shoulders hunched. He hated being anywhere near people - bad thoughts seemed to circulate in those types of places. He took a deep breath, hoping to get out of this one without a scrape. He glanced behind him to make sure Ash was okay. He didn't want her to get hurt again, and he felt even taking his eyes off of her could be dangerous.

Ash followed Garfield closely, not wanting to stray to far. Her amber gaze was scanning the buildings around her, they seemed extremely familar. She noticed that Garfiled kept glancing back at her, which caused her to smile. He seems to care about my well being she thought to herself. "So where are we going?" she asked curiously.

Garfield glanced over his shoulder again at Ash.
"Just to the grocery store," he answered, "It's got a lot of things we can use." He walked up to the door and took a deep breath before pushing through it. His keen turquoise eyes ascertained the layout of the store. It was unchanged since he had been there, so all of the exits he had planned on previous visits would be probable now. With a contented sigh, Garfield fingered the money in his pocket as he tried to reason what things they would need the most.

Ash listened as he explained where they were going. She followed him up to the doors and went thtough behind him. She looked around the store, noticing the many supplies littered throughout the building. I wonder what supplies we'll get she thought to herself.

Garfield decided that they needed protein bars first of all. He walked down the aisle and tried to remember the brands that were best filled with nutrients. He selected a few boxes and stuffed them under his arm. He considered what else they would need. Plenty of water, for sure. He preferred to get that last, though. Turning, he decided to ask Ash what she wanted to bring.
"Is there anything you would like?" He asked.

Ash followed Garfield through the store, carefully observing what he picked out. She noticed him grabbing various boxes of protein bars and agreed with the decision, it would give them the most energy. She was a little startled when he spoke, she was completely engrossed in his actions and the words brought her out of her thoughts. Ash thought about the question and only came up with one thing. "Chocolate" she said, blushing a little at the childish request.

Garfield stared at her for a moment, and then smiled.
"Of course," he said. He walked to the next aisle, which was mostly candies. Glancing up and down it, he then turned to Ash.
"Take your pick." He smiled.

Ash smiled happily and followed Garfield into the next aisle. She felt her jaw drop as she took in all the candy around her, she hadn't seen this much candy since she was a child. She began to excitedly look through all the different types of candy and chocolate. She finally decided on Aero bar and happily walked back to Garfield. She showed him happily, before embracing him in a one armed hug once again.

Garfield blushed shyly when Ash hugged him. He was glad that he could make her happy. He wasn't sure about types of chocolate - Garfield didn't really have much of a sweet tooth. But it didn't much matter what he thought as long as she was happy.
"Well, um... shall we go then?" He asked, still a little red in the face.

Ash backed away from the hug, and noticied the redness of Garfield's face. She smiled at the blush, noticing that she seemed to have the same effect on him, that he had on her. "Sounds like a good idea" she said. She carefully linked her fingers with his and started towards the cash registers.

Garfield liked the feeling of Ash's fingers intertwining with his. He'd never held hands with anyone but his uncle before, but he'd never felt such a warm and inviting grip before. His Uncle's efforts, he realized then, had been only half-hearted. A small smile ticked at the side of Garfield's mouth as he grabbed a large pack of water bottles and made his way to the nearest register. After he paid for the food, he walked out into the warm day and turned to Ash.
"Better eat that chocolate before it melts." He said, fishing it out for her. He held it out with a kind smile on his face.

Ash followed Garfield to the cash registers and waited as he payed. She felt bad that she couldn't offer money to help buy anything. I'll find some way to repay him she thought to herself. She noticed that he had started towards the exit and quickly followed him.
Ash looked up at Garfield when she heard him spoke. She took the chocolate with a smile and unwrapped it. She broke a piece off and held it out to Garfield. "Want a piece?" she asked.

Considering whether or not to accept, Garfield decided that he would try it. He took the piece with a gentle "thank you" and then stuck it in his mouth. It melted on his tongue instantly, filling his mouth with the rich and sweet taste of chocolate. While he wasn't exactly a connoisseur of chocolates, Garfield thought that was probably the best he'd ever tasted.
"It's good." He said cheerfully, pulling his backpack around so that he could pack away their supplies. His backpack was surprisingly large, and could fit a lot in it. Garfield knew that he would have to remove some sand later, or else the pack would probably become too heavy even for him. After he'd packed everything away, it already weighed enough to be almost impossible to carry. Good thing Garfield was used to such weights.
