Ash could see the hurt and pain in his eyes. She felt her heart breaking further, knowing that she caused him to feel like that. "Meeting me was never in your fate before either" she said, smling up at him. The look of sadness was replaced with one that was full of hope.

Isago met Ash's gaze again and smiled slightly.
"Ash... I want to stay with you... I wish I wasn't so afraid..." A frown creased his brow, and his free hand drifted to the scar on his forehead. The mark seemed to throb as it sometimes did, almost as if it were reminding him of the vow he made never to trust again.

"But you don't need to be afraid" Ash said "you have me." She tightened her grip on his hand to prove her point. "And it's really not that bad here" she said "But it'd be better if you were here too." With that said, she leaned and placed a gentle kiss on his lips, before pulling back, a blush staining her cheeks.

Isago didn't take his eyes off of Ash as she spoke, and when she leaned forward he let his hand fall to his side. Her lips were warm and soft, and he felt his own cheeks flush as she broke the kiss. He had never felt so loved before, and it was a strange sensation for him.
"Ash..." He murmured, taking her hand and wrapping both of his around it, "I... I really love you, you know." Isago said quietly.

Ash looked at Isago and noticed the blush on his face. She wasn't planning on kissing him, it just felt like the right thing to do. She felt him wrap both hands around hers and listened as he spoke. She felt her heart skip a beat at his confession. "I love you too" she said, a bright smile on her face.

Isago hesitated a moment, and then sighed.
"I want... I want to tell you something. About this." He gestured to the mark on his forehead. He'd never told anyone about his past before, and the words were hard to come by. He couldn't think of how to tell her about his father, or his siblings, or especially his uncle... But he knew he had to try and make her understand.

Ash watched as he gestured to the strange mark on his forehead. "Okay" she said, smiling. She was happy that he would confide in her about his mark, which she assumed had something to do with his past. She just looked at him, waiting patiently for him to begin.

"Well," Isago began hesitantly, "My mom left pretty soon after I was born. My dad didn't really bother with me much. My older brother and sister looked after me mostly, but... I spent most of my days alone. When strange things began happening around me... when my powers began to show... my dad decided that I should be locked up. For my 'protection', he said. I spent years in an asylum, where... well, it wasn't pleasant." He hunched his shoulders slightly, shifting his gaze to the ceiling high above them.
"My dad died while I was there. It wasn't long after when my uncle came to get me. He was kind to me, giving me my own room and taking me places with him. He was the only friend I had ever had." Isago felt as if his throat were swelling up. Tears stung his eyes as he remembered how he had felt back then - so happy, not at all suspecting the truth.

Ash listened carefully, feeling her heart break for the boy next to her. She couldn't imagine living her life like that, and she had always thought her history was bad. She just gripped his hand tighter, wishing she could use her other hand to rub his arm.
She listened as he spoke about his uncle, and noticed how it had him tearing up. "You don't have to tell me everything at once" she said "you can take a break if you want."

Isago closed his eyes tightly, half tempted to take her offer. But then he hook his head resolutely.
"No," he murmured, "You should know this..." He looked into her bright amber eyes, remembering the night that had changed his life forever.
"I lived with my uncle for a few years," he continued quietly, "And I thought I had finally found a... a home. I had had accidents with my powers... they're not easy to control sometimes. But uncle had always taken care of me, and encouraged me to learn to master them. Then it happened... there was an instance where my brother tried to hurt me, and the sand just... protected me. But it hurt him. My uncle tried to encourage me, but I was pretty beat up about it. I had a hard time sleeping after that." Isago took a deep breath. He knew the next words would not be easy. He looked back into Ash's eyes, seeking strength in her.
"I woke up and found my uncle with a knife in his hand, leaning over me. He whispered in my ear 'it's time to be rid of the embarrassment to our family.' Then he tried to slit my throat. The sand came again, though, and I was so... I was so angry and hurt that I couldn't control it. When I saw what I had done, I..." His hand flew up to his forehead, and a haunted look crossed over his face.

Ash simply nodded, not wanting to interupt him. She listened intently as he described his life and how his powers lashed out at someone he loved. It reminded her of what happened before she woke up at the Order.
Ash kept in the gasp that wanted to escape, she couldn't imagine how he felt waking up to that. "It's okay" she said, trying to comfort him. "If you want, I could tell you what happened before I ended up here" she offered. She just wanted to help take his mind out of the dark place it was in.

Isago glanced over at Ash, surprised. How could such a happy person have suffered anything bad? He didn't want her to talk about it if she didn't feel comfortable, but he did want to know everything about her.
"If you want to talk about it." He said quietly, turning farther on his side so that he was fully facing her, his eyes trained on her hands as he stroked her skin gently.

"You told me about your past, so I'll tell you mine" Ash said confidently. She took in a deep breath before beginning.
"Well I was raised in a normal family home with two younger brothers. We had our fights like all siblings" she said. "But about a year after I noticed weird things happening, my powers developing, we got into a huge fight. I don't remember much except getting really angry then really hot and there was a flash of fire and then I woke up in the cave. I don't even know what happened to my brothers, sometimes I wish I did, but most days I just pray that they're still around" she explained, tears starting to fall from her eyes. Every day she mourned the possible loss of her brothers and just hoping and praying that they survived whatever happened that day.

Isago frowned, concerned to see the tears trailing down Ash's cheeks. He leaned forward and brushed them away with her fingers very gently.
"Don't cry," he murmured. "It's in the past now, Ash. You're here. I'm here. As long as we have each other... nothing else matters, right?" He smiled slightly, hoping that she would feel the same way he did. His world had been dark and consumed by the past before he met her. Now she was like the light in his eyes, making everything new. He hoped he could do the same for her.

Ash looked at Isago and smiled. "Yeah you're right" she said "all that matters is that we have each other." She was glad that Isago had the same feelings towards her that she had towards him. "I'll be okay as long as you're here" she added, squeezing his hand tighter.
