"Yeah, lets go" Tails said. He begun walking towards the direction of the library, staying as close to Daman as possible. He knew they would see other mutants out now.

Daman kept close to Tails, making sure that he stood between him when they ran into other mutants. Tails' fear of people was probably understandable, considering all that he'd been through. But Daman sometimes wondered why he was so scared of his fellow mutants here. They were all supposed to be friends. Some family. Daman wondered why Tails, in all this time, hadn't learned to trust them, too?

Tails was relieved when they finally reached the library. They'd run into too many mutants for his taste. The worst was when they tried to talk to him, they treated him like there was something wrong with him.

Daman pushed the door to the library open and guided Tails inside. It was quiet in there, as usual, and dimly lit in some areas. The room was almost empty, except for one blonde-haired boy sitting in the windowsill nearby, holding a thick volume against his knees and staring down into it with a blank expression on his face. Daman recognized Crucible, the boy that had shown Tails and he the hidden clearing where they liked to have their picnics now. Daman wondered why the boy liked the library so much, but he figured he just liked reading. It was odd to think of Crucible, who never really showed emotion, liking anything, but Daman supposed the mutant was mostly just misunderstood. He was a young boy, like Tails, and had feelings, too. That much had become clear to Daman after spending a little time with him.

Tails looked around the library and smiled. He was glad to be in the peaceful and quiet place. He noticed Crucible sitting by the window and smiled a little brighter. Maybe he would be up for talking again. "Hey Crucible" Tails said, voice quiet.

Crucible started at the sound of someone saying his name. He looked over at the entrance to the library and saw Daman and Tails standing there. The blonde boy sat up straighter, one leg falling over the side of the windowsill as he turned to face them.
"Hi, Tails," he said in his unemotional voice. But there seemed to be a twinge of something else--a certain eagerness that usually was not present in the boy's demeanor. He looked at the taller boy standing next to Tails and nodded. "Hi, Daman."

Tails smiled at the boy. He was the only other mutant besides Daman, he felt comfortable around. He thought of Crucible as a friend.
"What are you reading?" he asked, gesturing to the book.

Crucible lifted the cover, revealing a simple red with a golden ring in the middle.
"The Lord of the Rings," he replied with a bit of a smile. "A classic. Where have you two been?" Crucible rested the book in his lap.

"I've never heard of that" Tails replied. The title sounded intriguing though, maybe he would have to give them a shot.
"We were just out for a picnic and a swim" Tails said "but Daman saw something so he has to go report it. So he brought me here while he goes to talk to the general."
