Daman made his way into the Great Hall, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his oversized dark jeans. He glanced to his right, his arched nose forming a distinct profile that spoke of his Russian descent. The Hall was relatively crowded, as it always was. Daman liked to watch the others go about their business. And what better place to do so than the center of the Order? Making his way to one of the sitting areas, Daman plunked down into an easy chair. Crossing his legs, he folded his gloved hands in his lap, looking about him with calm black eyes. It had been years since he'd first joined the rebellion, and Daman couldn't help but enjoy the sight of the ornately carved chambers with its natural windows.

A short boy with black hair, and cat ears walked through the halls of the Order. He was avoiding eye contact with everyone, and trying to appear as small as possible. He took a deep breath as he entered the great hall. He felt instantly overwhelmed by the large amount of people, his blue gaze was searching for his best friend. He noticed Daman sitting in a chair a short distance away and smiled. He quickly rushed over to Daman, hating to be alone in large crowds. "Hey Daman" Tails said in a quiet voice as he took a seat beside him.

Daman noticed his friend Tails as he made his way through the Great Hall towards him. A small smile spread over the young man's features as Tails plunked down next to him, greeting him in a friendly voice. Daman looked over at him and tipped his head to the side, causing some of his brunette hair to fall into his eyes.
"How's it going, Tails?" He asked in a cheerful voice, glad to see his friend up-and-about. His Russian accent wasn't as thick as it used to be, but it was still noticeable. Daman had worked hard to be rid of it, but it wasn't an easy thing to fix.

Tails returned the smile, with a small, shy one of his own. He contemplated the question, he still wasn't used to being talked to like he mattered, so questions often caught him off guard. "It's going okay" he answered. "How's it going with you?" he asked. His blue gaze was flickering around the room nervously.

Daman noticed his friend's nervousness and made it a point to lean back and looked relaxed.
"It's all good," he said in a carefree manner. "Just got back from patrolling, actually. What have you been up to today?" Daman fixed Tails with a keen dark gaze, wondering just that.

Tails took some comfort from his friends relaxed appearance. It made him feel more ate ease, knowing that Daman felt comfortable here.
"I've just been hanging out in my room" he said. There wasn't really much he did besides that, unless Daman coaxed him out of hiding.

Daman cocked his head to one side and fixed Tails with a skeptical gaze.
"You really should get out more often, Tails. There's lots to see around here." He said, gesturing at the wide canyon walls and the beautiful carvings that had been made by an earth-manipulating mutant when the rebellion was first formed. Daman had been rather heart-weary when he had first come to the Order, but he had soon lost himself in the beauty of the place, and he hoped its wonder would not be missed by his young friend.

Tails shook his head in response to Daman's statement. "I like my room though" he said quietly. In all honestly he was scared to venture out on his own, he felt better when he was tucked away in his quiet room. "And I'm out now" he said pointedly.

Daman looked at his friend and sighed.
"I just don't want you to feel boxed up, bratan." He said, knowing that Tails had been used to a much richer environment. But he supposed anything was better than the cages his friend had lived in before. Daman was tempted to reach out and pat Tails's head, but he figured it was wiser not to test his luck. Clenching his fist, Daman felt the uncomfortable warmth of the leather on his skin. The weight of his powers was heavy, indeed, but he would bear the burden. He had to.

Tails just shrugged. He couldn't exactly say that he was used to being boxed up. He shuddered as visions of the cages flashed through his mind. "I feel more comfortable in my room" he said "it feels safe." He knew that Daman wanted him to be more social and outgoing but he just couldn't. No one could blame him though, he spent seven years of his life in a cage afterall.

Daman sighed and smiled a little sadly.
"Yeah, I get it. Whatever makes you happy." He tipped his head to one side and lifted a hand to his chin. Daman had long, slender fingers which were almost always covered by his form fitting gloves. He'd caught several mutants staring, but he didn't care what they thought. If he were to accidentally brush someone, at least they'd be safe from him.

Tails shot Daman a smile. He was glad that Daman understood, even if it made him a little sad. "But now that you're here, maybe we could go out for a walk" he suggested. He felt uncomfortable being out in the open, alone, but it didn't mean he didn't like outside. He actually loved nature and if he could get over his constant fear, he would spend hours outdoors.

Daman wasn't really in the mood to go back out into the heat. But looking at Tails's earnest expression, he couldn't help but give in.
"Sure," he said breezily, "That sounds like fun! Where do you want to walk today? Down by the ravine? Or up by the prairies?"

Tails smiled brightly as he practically jumped from his chair. "Hmm... the ravine" he answered happily. He was glad that Daman agreed to take him out for a walk. He couldn't wait to see the animals that usually hung out by the ravine, they were always so cute and fluffy.

"As you wish, then," Daman said cheerfully. He almost began to reach out his hand to take the boy's, but then hesitated. His hand dropped to his side, and he felt a sort of loneliness. It had been a long time since he'd casually touched another person, but that didn't mean he had forgotten what it was like.
"Let's go, then, shall we?" He asked, trying to look cheerful despite the sad thoughts that crowded in his mind.
